Why RecRe?

Convenient

Allow students to rent whatever they want, whenever they want, without having to fill out paperwork or talk to a campus employee.

Cost-Effective

Students and parents spend $750+ on average on non-essential, non-academic items when moving to college.

RecRe can provide hundreds of dollars of cost savings per student.

Sustainable

College students across the country create 100,000+ tons of avoidable move out waste every year by throwing out non-essential, non-academic items.

Students dramatically reduce their on campus waste by sharing items they don’t need to own.

Campus Case Study

Emory University

The Emory University Student Center is a beautiful, 24/7 accessible building. This Student Center is filled with collaborative seating areas, a robust game room and multi-purpose rooms throughout the facility. Before RecRe, students at the Emory Student Center only had access to check out game room and club inventory between the hours of 9AM and 8PM.

Measurable Results and Positive Feedback

Students at Emory have fully adopted this system. In the fall 2022 semester alone, we saw 1000+ unique students utilize the RecRe box at Emory’s Student Center, generating nearly 3,000 hours of rental usage.

Activating Shared Space Around the Clock

Emory requested that two RecRe boxes be placed in the game room to allow students to utilize available inventory at all hours of the day. The Student Center saw a significant increase in usage of the space thanks to RecRe, especially at late hours of the night. Emory is proud to say that their Student Center is a safe space for students to play and interact together.

Secure Rentals with Minimal Oversight

Emory utilizes RecRe’s email authentication system which restricts rental access to active Emory students who are in good standing. Once a week, Emory staff completes a weekly five minute checklist on the box to confirm the consistent quality of inventory.

Universities love RecRe

What RecRe has allowed institutions to do is to maximize the utilization of student life spaces for their intended purpose: student engagement.  Students can use recreation and gaming equipment as well as campus programming supplies in ways that reduce staffing needs, increase resource usage, and maintain student accountability. Institutions feel more comfortable loaning out high-cost equipment in ways that improve institutional equity as well.

The RecRe team is easy to work with, extremely open to feature requests, and true partners in increasing student engagement and campus affinity.
