Warehouse & Field Activation Specialist

Location: On-site at RecRe HQ, Harrisonburg, VA, with periodic travel to customer sites across the country.

Organization: RecRe, Inc.

Reports to: Warehouse & Logistics Lead

Schedule: Full-time. Core working hours follow US Eastern business hours; the rest of the week flexes around activations, shipments, and travel.

Position Overview

RecRe has nearly 90 campus partners and a lean team. Every one of those partners has a RecRe box that was received, tested, packed, shipped, and installed by a small crew out of our Harrisonburg warehouse. We are hiring the next member of that crew.

You will keep units moving through the warehouse, to a working installation on campus. Day to day that means receiving pallets, prepping and QC-testing boxes, keeping inventory accurate, packing and crating units for shipment, and going on the road to deliver and support them. You will start your journey alongside our Warehouse & Logistics Lead and our deployment team. Within 90 days, you should be able to run an activation trip.

This is a hands-on role. You will lift, drive, wire, test, and fix things. You will also dive into some of our internal tools and systems, because a box that is not tracked is a box that is not ready.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Warehousing. Receive, store, and ship goods. Be present when shipments arrive and leave, including unloading 18-wheel and box trucks carrying pallets and cases, with individual boxes weighing up to 400 pounds. Keep inventory counts accurate in our inventory system. Keep the warehouse organized, clean, and safe, and help improve layout and space use as the fleet grows.
  • Hardware prep and QC. Prep, test, and package RecRe boxes so every unit is deployment-ready on the schedule. QC new units when they arrive. Work with the Hardware Product Lead to set up tests for new component options, investigate hardware issues with diagnostic tools, and make minor mechanical and electrical adjustments.
  • Logistics. Under the supervision of the Hardware Product Lead, help manage the flow of goods from the warehouse to customers. Monitor shipment status, follow up with carriers, and raise issues before they cause a missed install date.
  • Deployments and installation. Deliver and activate RecRe boxes on campus; handle the paperwork and phone coordination that comes with a delivery; train the customer’s staff on the hardware and software; clean up shipping materials; and capture photos and videos of the finished install. Return for maintenance and pickup trips as needed. Travel is periodic and includes overnight trips; you will eventually travel alone.
  • Customer presence. You are the RecRe point of contact and visible presence on activation day. Be on time, be prepared, and leave the campus contact confident in the box and in us.
  • Other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Tools: Asana, HubSpot, Google Workspace, inventory management systems, hand and power tools, hardware diagnostic tools.

What Success Looks Like

  • 30 days: You know the warehouse, the box models, and the receiving, QC, and packing steps. You have unloaded shipments, prepped units, and kept the inventory system current without being reminded.
  • 60 days: You have been on at least one installation trip with the deployment team and can run box activation and customer training with supervision. You are packing and crating units for shipment on your own.
  • 90 days: You can prep a unit from arrival to crated and ready without a checklist in hand, and you have spotted and fixed at least one hardware issue yourself. You are ready to lead an activation with a second person and are on the path to solo trips.

Qualifications

Must have

  • Ability to lift and carry 30 to 50+ pounds regularly, move boxes weighing up to 400 pounds with equipment and a partner, and stand for a full shift.
  • Basic mechanical and electrical aptitude: assembly, wiring, and troubleshooting physical equipment, reading installation manuals and schematics, and comfort with hand and power tools.
  • A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record, and the ability and willingness to travel, including overnight trips and eventually traveling alone.
  • Basic computer skills. You will work in Asana, spreadsheets, and our inventory tools every day.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to plan ahead: a unit that ships incomplete costs us a second trip.
  • Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy. Shipments and install dates do not move for a late start.
  • A strong team player who is willing to learn new tasks as needed.
  • Ability to unload trucks in all weather at the loading dock.

Nice to have

  • Experience with inventory management, warehousing, or shipping and receiving.
  • Experience troubleshooting hardware or other physical products.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Asana, or HubSpot.
  • Bachelor’s degree in production systems, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • Experience installing or servicing equipment at customer sites.
  • Comfort using AI tools to draft, summarize, or work through a problem. We use them daily and will show you how.

Who You Are

  • You would rather test it twice in the warehouse than fix it once on campus.
  • When something is late, broken, or short, you say so clearly, calmly, and early.
  • You are self-motivated and take an innovative approach to problems. When the manual does not cover it, you figure it out and write down what you learned.
  • You are comfortable being the only RecRe person in the room, and you leave the customer better off than when you found them.

Compensation and Benefits

  • $45,000 to $55,000 annual salary, depending on experience
  • 100% premium coverage for health, dental, and vision
  • Flexible PTO
