Internship Recap with Joe Macri
Hello! I’m Joe Macri, a rising Junior at Auburn University, and this summer, I worked as a Warehouse Intern at RecRe. My role combined software, hardware operations, and business logistics, giving me a hands-on look at the moving parts that keep a fast-growing company running efficiently.

I worked with both the hardware and business teams, helping manage inventory, prepping shipments, and supporting product deployments. I also had the chance to travel, including a long-distance trip to Utah State, where I assisted with an on-site box deployment. Each trip was well-planned and productive, and I got to see how RecRe handles business operations across different environments and how travel logistics can directly impact business success.
During the day-to-day tasks, I gained hands-on experience in supply chain management, small business operations, and how software tools support those workflows. I learned about working with international manufacturers, freight insurance, and the logistics of moving equipment quickly and reliably. I also became more familiar with the systems RecRe uses to track, manage, and coordinate hardware in the field.
Phil was both a high-quality boss and a mentor. He went above and beyond what was required of him workwise, to ensure that not only did I feel comfortable and welcomed at work, but also living in a new city, far from home. Phil worked hard to make sure I had ample opportunity to learn and to work as a contributing member of the team.

Overall, my summer at RecRe gave me a practical understanding of how software, hardware, and logistics intersect in a real-world setting. I also hugely benefited from seeing how a small, newly formed company conducts task management and workflow. It helped me build skills I’ll carry into my future career, and it also gave me a clearer sense of what kind of work I enjoy.
From day one, Joe proved to be a go-getter. He brought incredible energy to every project and a unique perspective shaped by his on-campus role at Auburn, where he manages their RecRe boxes. That first-hand experience gave us invaluable insight into the user experience, and Joe ran with it. He tackled every task with initiative and a clear drive to make an impact. We’re excited to see where his talent and determination take him next.
