RecRe Launches at Utah State Campus Recreation

· by Griffin Harrington

Utah State University is officially the newest partner of RecRe! In partnership with Campus Recreation, we’ve installed four RecRe boxes across two bustling recreation spaces, revolutionizing how students access equipment and how staff manage inventory.

The highlight of this deployment? A brand-new revenue-generating feature for climbing shoes! Utah State is leveraging the RecRe Revshare platform, enabling students to rent climbing shoes for a small fee through the RecRe app. No more waiting in long lines at the check-out desk—students can now enjoy a seamless rental experience, leaving more time for scaling walls and tackling their next climb.

But the innovation doesn’t stop there. Alongside climbing shoes, students can also borrow racquetball gear, basketballs, and other recreation essentials—completely free of charge! Whether it’s a pickup game or an afternoon on the courts, RecRe makes it easier than ever for students to stay active.

A Win-Win for Staff and Students

Before RecRe, the Campus Recreation team was managing over 50 climbing shoe rentals every day, manually—a time-intensive process involving computers, spreadsheets, and occasional headaches. Now, with self-service rentals, the staff can focus on what matters most: climber safety and enhancing programming. Real-time inventory control, automated processes, and clear data insights give administrators a powerful tool to simplify operations.

For students, the ease of browsing, renting, and returning gear through the RecRe app is a game-changer. RecRe combines modern convenience with ultimate flexibility, offering administrators the choice to charge rental fees, set free periods, and even add optional late fees when needed.

“RecRe has been a game changer for us. We have been able to shift staffing models, meeting more needs of students, faculty and staff while providing greater autonomy for patrons to check out equipment when they need it.”
